| Description | A course in the applications of computers for video production. Design of computer graphic workstations and development of a rationale for selecting software, hardware, and peripherals. | ||||||||

1. Course Introduction: syllabus review 2. The Anatomy of a Computer: Understanding core computer components & specs, motherboards, CPUs, GPUs, RAM, & storage 3. Operating Systems & Universal Protocols: Mac OS, Windows, & Linux etc., software control, drivers, generic protocols 4. File Systems & Data Storage: HDDs vs SSDs, SSD form factors, protocols, & flash types, common file systems, & formatting drives 5. Media Production Software & Workflow: Media reference files, caching, buffer size, keyboard shortcuts, control surfaces, & macros 6. Multimedia File Formats & Codecs: File compression, lossy vs lossless, compression artifacts, sample rate, dithering, & bit rate 7. | Attendance Policy |
Any student more than 15 minutes late will be considered absent. After one absence, all further unexcused absences will cause you to lose credit for the day as part of your weekly participation grade. If there are special circumstances related to your absence such as medical emergency, speak with me as soon as possible and your absence can be excused at instructor discretion. |

| COVID 19 Information | The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition directly to their local health department. Students should also contact their course faculty to report their quarantine status.
